Privacy

Reading this handbook is anonymous. One page — the form that sends you the one-pager — collects what you type into it, and this policy sets out exactly what that is and where it goes.

Status

Draft. Not yet reviewed by a lawyer. Effective date to be set on publication.

Draft — counsel review before launch

This policy is a draft prepared for a qualified reviewer to check, amend and approve. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the operator's legal name, contact address and effective date are not yet filled in. Do not rely on it as a final published policy.

The short version

Reading this site is anonymous. There are no accounts, no logins, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking pixels. Nothing about your path through the handbook is recorded or sent anywhere.

There is exactly one page that collects anything — the one-pager form — and it collects only what you choose to type into it. That form, what it sends, and where it goes are described in full below, along with two other things that touch your data (hosting, and outbound links) because a policy that omitted them would be inaccurate.

What the form collects

The one-pager form is the only place on this site that asks you for anything. It asks for, and sends us:

  • Your name and email address. Both required — the email address is where the one-pager is sent.
  • Your phone number and practice name. Both optional. Leave them blank and the form still works.
  • Four answers about the practice — roughly how many people work in it, how long it has been operating, whether it already has a website (and, if you choose to give it, that website's address), and which problem brought you here. Every one of these is optional, and none of them decides whether the one-pager is sent to you.

Alongside your answers the form also sends a small set of fixed technical values that describe the form itself rather than you: which site the submission came from, which profession and country it is written for, which one-pager was being requested, the timezone the site assumes, and — if you arrived from a link that carried them — the campaign tags in that link's web address. These let us route the request and tell campaigns apart. They identify a page, not a person.

The form carries one hidden field that no person ever sees or fills in. It exists to catch automated spam submissions. If anything appears in it, the submission is treated as spam.

Where it goes, and how long it is kept

When you submit the form, what you typed is sent to a customer relationship system operated on our behalf, hosted outside Australia. From there an automated workflow emails you the one-pager and may email you once or twice afterwards about the problem you named and about the software we build.

Who sees it: the people who run this site. It is not sold, not rented, not traded, and not passed to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party beyond the service providers who host and send on our behalf and are bound to use it only for that.

How long: we keep it while it is useful for the conversation it started. Ask us to delete it and we will, without needing a reason. Reply "stop" to any email from us and the follow-up ends.

What we do not do with it: we do not use it to build an advertising profile, we do not run it through automated decision-making that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you, and we do not use it for any purpose other than sending you what you asked for and following up about it.

Cookies and storage

This site sets no cookies, and it does not use local storage.

It does use one small piece of session storage, and only if you arrived from a link carrying campaign tags: those tags are held in your browser for the length of the browsing session so that if you read a few pages before reaching the form, the submission still records where you came from. It holds no identifier for you, it is cleared when you close the tab, and nothing is read from it unless you submit the form.

Because nothing persistent is stored on your device, there is no cookie banner.

Analytics

There is none. No analytics service, tag manager, measurement pixel, heatmap, or session recorder runs on this site. Page views are not counted, and your path through the site is not recorded.

Fonts

The site's typefaces are served from this site itself, not from a third-party font service. Loading a page therefore does not disclose your IP address to any font provider.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical information your browser sends in order to deliver a page to you — which includes your IP address, the page requested, and your browser's user-agent string. This is a normal part of how the web works and it happens before this site's own code runs. This site's publisher does not receive, access, or retain those logs.

Cloudflare's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy terms.

Links to other sites

This site links out heavily and deliberately: nearly every factual statement links to the official source it came from, so you can check it. Those destinations are not operated by this site's publisher and are not covered by this policy. Once you follow a link, you are subject to the privacy practices of wherever you have landed.

Children

This site is written for practitioners. It is not directed at children, and the one form on it asks for business rather than personal details. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your rights

Australian privacy law gives you rights over personal information an organisation holds about you, including rights to ask what is held, to have it corrected, and to complain about how it has been handled. If you have never submitted the form, we hold nothing about you and there is nothing to request.

If you have submitted it, write to the address below and we will tell you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. We do not charge for this and we will not ask you why. If you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

If this site ever adds something else that collects data — analytics, an embed, another form — this policy will be updated before that change goes live, not after. The effective date at the top will change accordingly.

A monitored contact address will be published here before launch.
